Carrara Animation Site
Started by 0oseven a while ago
I'm probably a bit overdue making this post as it has been on the Daz Carrara Forum a while - so you may have already seen it.    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/27624/I will be launching a site soon exclusively for Carrara users interested in Animation. There are so many aspects to Animation that I felt a dedicated site would be a worthwhile thing for   novice or expert. So the idea here is to focus on discussing and learning about Carrara’s animation features ,making Animated Movies and sharing knowledge. Subjects such as modelling or the “perfect still render” are left to other sites and forums.Dynamics, particles, lights , cameras or anything that moves or changes over time is considered animation as well as,of course, characters , their motions and lipsinc.Maybe you want to collaborate with others to produce a Movie or just get ongoing help with a project.Site should launch very soon but a few people who have shown interest will beta test it first - and if they dont find too many of my "failings" then will publicise the web address. You can still join the beta group to offer your opinions and suggestions.Just post your interest here.Cheers

I am interested. Stills don't mean anything to me and I don't model. What gets my fire going is animation. It's got to move!

I'm interested too.  Please let me know when you get started.  I started working on an animation, but getting people to move realistically has been very difficult.

I think you will find that some of the best carrara artists aren't on the DAZ forum.

I have gigs of test animations, but nothing I'd consider an animation. I've done quite a bit of testing of the phyisics in carrara. But nothing like the Rube Goldberg stuff I have seen done with it. Surprised

The bezer tweener is your freind Wink gives the movement a bit more realiziam. But getting realistic motion is dificult regardless. Walking is a bit of a jaring motion, for every action there is a reaction. Your foot hits the floor but flesh and cloth don't stop their movement imeadietly. The knee is not a hinge, the hip is not a pendulum. A bit of side to side movement in the shin, and a little role to the hip gives a more natural walk. The body is not attached to a rope, it dips down between steps. It's the little things that make the biggest difference, and the hardest to get right.

Note: I don't play well with others Laughing

STAN! I could not agree wight you more! After waiting for newest carrara to come out I was livid with what a trash heap is! I am mac and it barely runs and works! I finally said my piece using many "F" bombs and the like and got kick out! DAZes newest Carrara is a complete and utter train wreck

THIS IS WHAT I WANTED TO SAY ORIGINALLY.I'm really, really sorry I haven't responded to your posts above - here are my excuses !I have none (LOL) The current situation is that the site is up and still being reviewed with some tweeking going on but hey we want you to join in the discussion on what we have so far. If you want to persue this and I sincerely hope you do then email me at carrarator.daleland@bluetie.comI'll send you more info.Just like to express a couple of things here though. The site is not intended to compete with "The Cafe" or the "Daz Carrara" forums. It is intended to "fill a gap" for animators - so they have a place to go and learn, show, and collaborate ,specifically of course with Carrara software.I have tried to make the site not just informative but a little bit of fun as you might see when you visit and check out "The Cinemas"The site is no good without people so get on down there and become a "CarraraTor" ( duh ) and help make it what YOU want it to be.cheersPS I should have been notified when yo made these posts but I didn't get an email

Yes and now 0oseven has been working on a new forum for the carrarators site as the old one required some odd extra signons that was confusing to say the least. I think he should have that online very soon as a couple of folks are helping him test things out.

And I guess yes this seems like yet "another" place for Carrara stuff --but this has a singular very specific theme. That being animation. So pretty much if it does not have anything to do with animation --folks should put stuff here. (or daz3d forum) .

Being so focused should not take anything away from this spot which is all Carrara topics...but if you are feeling the animation bug --the Carrators site can be a place to practice and learn.

no concurency  here, we are glad to see more Carrara oriented communities, the more the better!
Once Carrators is on release state we are going to have links to it here too

Actually Carrara Cafe is here to be a central sport from which everyone could find everything about Carrara, and animation oriented website is an awesome addition to Carrara's world.

If you haven't seen it yet, Carrarators is Here

It's a pretty cool place, too. You can tell that 0oSeven has put a lot of effort in so far - and it just keeps on getting better. I didn't have an issue having to sign in twice. Oh well. I like the way it's set up and love to go in there, kick back, and watch some Carrara videos, tutorials, or have a read (or post a comment) in the forum.
