Fortunately I  heard about Carrara 5 and its lineage, so I felt fairly comfortable  “upgrading” from RayDream to Carrara. A couple years later, I  upgraded to C7 Pro and haven’t looked back.

I was born in Illinois through no fault of my own. My parents soon came to their senses and moved to Wisconsin when I was twelve. I was home schooled by my parents who made me and my seven brothers walk three miles to school every day. While this didn’t exactly make sense, it instilled in me a deep seated drive to achieve a marginal level of mediocrity.

My first experience with showing artwork was through 4-H. The highlight of this was in 1986 when I had an ink-wash selected to be displayed at the UW Madison, along with artwork from other 4-Hers from across the state.

Since that time, I have dabbled in various mediums as an amateur, while slowly and steadily migrating towards electronic media. My first experience with computer based artwork was with an Amiga my father had through work, and a program called Deluxe Paint. Years later as an adult, I bought a Mac and RayDream Studio 5. I used that until computer and OS upgrades made it very unstable. Fortunately I heard about Carrara 5 and its lineage, so I felt fairly comfortable “upgrading” from RayDream to Carrara. A couple years later, I upgraded to C7 Pro and haven’t looked back.

I’ve used some other programs through the years, including earlier versions of Poser and Bryce, but felt that they were somewhat limited. They each had features I wanted — realistic humans from Poser and realistic terrains from Bryce. Neither one worked well together, especially if you were a novice. More advanced software like C4D, Maya, etc. were both beyond my skill level and my budget, and  Raydream was getting a bit rickety. I saw Carrara as a godsend and a bridge to what I wanted to do. Carrara had the tools I was familiar with from Raydream, the terrain and atmospheres I wanted from Bryce, the realistic humanoids from Poser and some of the high end features found in C4D and Maya, such as rigging, complex shaders and more advanced lighting capabilities.

I had luck to enter Vilnius College of Technology and Design where I studied interactive design, digital animation and film making in 2006. During this period I discovered Carrara 5 and I was so intrigued by it that I kept tracking and examining it until I was able to buy a copy of Carrara.

Hello! My name is Danas. I am know usually by these two names: Danas_Anis or Jetbird_D2. Since childhood I loved to draw, I was always a dreamer and a bit off the planet guy and at age 5 I was already drawing my first comic book (if it can be called that way). I graduated Kaunas Art Gymnasium where I was introduced to 3D graphics for the first time with 3DS Max 5. During my graduation diploma project day I was offered to enter Vilnius Academy of Arts and study animation in Multimedia Faculty. However I had luck to enter Vilnius College of Technology and Design where I studied interactive design, digital animation and film making in 2006. During this period I discovered Carrara 5 and I was so intrigued by it that I kept tracking and examining it until I was able to buy a copy of Carrara. Before I was able to do so I had to go with other tools, I have tried all major and some not popular applications. I used Blender 2.40 for some time. And once I got my copy of Carrara I used to cheat on some 3DS Max lectures and accomplish projects with Carrara instead. Back then I have found a big value of speed and convenience in Carrara and fell in love with it.
I have never had troubles to meet deadlines and even help my colleagues. On 2009 I acquired a professorial bachelor degree as a designer and became a professional multimedia designer oriented to digital animation. I also started the Carrara 3D Expo magazine project. I think no one who knows me expected me to become a manager of a magazine :). Unfortunately after the house fire incident I had to take any acceptable job and had to give two years for print design either as an employee of design and advertising projects company or as a freelancer. Now I am trying to return to multimedia and catch up with always growing on demands multimedia world.

Been using Carrara since I found version 6 on a coverdisc and have been interested in 3D since using Imagine3D on my Amiga1200 many years ago.
I’m Robbie, 37yrs and living in Brisbane, Australia. Been using Carrara since I found version 6 on a coverdisc and have been interested in 3D since using Imagine3D on my Amiga1200 many years ago. I also do web design and have my ‘base’ site at www.onearmedgraphics.com . I lost the use of an arm from a motorbike accident 20 years ago and for me, art is my escape from the constant chronic pain problems I suffer with. I believe Carrara is an ideal tool for self-publishers of all sorts of multimedia content or even offline print services. I believe the community has many untapped discoveries in how powerful it can be, especially with some of the existing plugins we have access to.

I would love to work in the industry, but always have something I want to be modelling and I’m not sure how it would be. Working For The Man. When I put images on the internet for people to look at and comment, it doesn’t bother me whether I have one view or 500.
Real name – Mike Stokes. Born – On a rainy overcast day in December 1966, Bristol, England. Interests – 3D, Mainly British Comics (2000AD, Judge Dredd) and Selective Music. Current Game Playing – L4D2 (only game I tend to Play) maybe the new GT when it comes out. Occupation – Factory Worker.

With no formal computer or 3D training. I first got into 3D in 2005 with a free copy of Amapi 6. Which is also the first time I used a computer. Then in late 2005 purchased Carrara 4 along with Amapi 7 Designer.

I tend to try and model everything I need, the more I model the quicker it gets. Even when I have a blank on what to model next, I’ll tend to just start modelling something, even if it’s not what I wanted to do. Sometimes they can take over several weeks and turn out better than previous models I’ve had a passion for.

I would love to work in the industry, but always have something I want to be modelling and I’m not sure how it would be. Working For The Man. When I put images on the internet for people to look at and comment, it doesn’t bother me whether I have one view or 500. Although I do feel more of an attachment to that one viewer than perhaps the 500. I have a long time love for humanoid style robots, which probably shows in my gallery. I hope you’ve enjoyed my images and free models over the years and will keep watching out for Zikeo work.

Thanks

As an adult, most of the work I’ve done has been in farming. I’ve been a poultry farmer, raised cattle, done small-scale vegetable farming, and worked as a butcher. While I enjoy farming and working with animals, my passion has always been art. Years ago, pre-rendered games like Myst and Riven sparked my interest in 3D graphics.
I am twenty-seven years old. I live and work in the mountains of southwest Virginia, surrounded by forest and wild animals.

I was born and raised in the California Bay Area and moved to rural Virginia with my family when I was fifteen.

As an adult, most of the work I’ve done has been in farming. I’ve been a poultry farmer, raised cattle, done small-scale vegetable farming, and worked as a butcher. While I enjoy farming and working with animals, my passion has always been art. Years ago, pre-rendered games like Myst and Riven sparked my interest in 3D graphics, and more recently Carrara and Blender have given me an affordable way to pursue it. I started doing freelance graphics work last year, and I am slowly, but steadily, moving towards a career as an artist.

I am an avid reader and spend much of my spare time studying history and astronomy. I also do a lot of writing. For many years my hobby was making and modding computer games. I have always wanted to publish an indie game, but until recently my art skills weren’t quite up to the challenge. Game making is something I hope to revisit in the near future.

I have two pets – a Plott Hound named Boo, and a Black Angus/Jersey cow named Caffie.

3D and Carrara is my favourite way to create, I will use Photoshop and Illustrator but I am also a big supporter of freeware and open source software, often turning to the likes of Wings 3D, Inkscape or The Gimp.
Way back in ancient history I went to Art College and came out as a sculptor and a blacksmith. Essentially I just love to play with my creativity; I am a fine artist because I need to express myself in ways that words could not support. I’ve travelled a lot, been homeless, lived on a Narrowboat and generally followed my nose through life.

These days I am more settled, I have a lovely wife, a mortgage and three kids aged 6 to 15. I work in IT as well as a lecturer teaching Photoshop at my local college in Bristol, UK. 3D and Carrara is my favourite way to create, I will use Photoshop and Illustrator but I am also a big supporter of freeware and open source software, often turning to the likes of Wings 3D, Inkscape or The Gimp.

My first point of call for modelling is Hexagon, I do use Carrara for modelling but I find Hexagons focus and extra tools invaluable. I sometimes use Bryce, Kerkythea and other 3D software but in my opinion you can’t beat Carrara for its combination of ease and power – the shader room in particular, for me cannot be matched – I used Bryce as my main 3D app for years and never mastered the DTE (the Bryce equivalent of the Carrara Texture room).
