Hi all,
I look for the first time, yesterday, at Cripeman tutorial on making the atmosphere with a Volumetric cloud. Great idea by the way, get a good result. So i did try it and been able to get good looks but something bugged me it is when we see some kind of bending in the clouds when you added the first sphere and you play a little with the settings and the banding was always there.
So i dediced to see if we could get rid of them. and it is no. When rendering the earth with the cloud they seem to disappear because of the textures we use and the setting to the volumetric cloud.
I found that the volumetric cloud, use the basic shape and select sphere it will appli a pattern to the sphere. I found the pattern when i was playing in h the properties with the accuracy, and put it to custom. Once in custom, i did this to get the pattern on my volumetric cloud basic shape sphere.
- sampling precision at 0%
- shape precision at 0%
- Sky light precision at 31% (make no difference if 0% or 100%)
- Uncheck Enable Light Cache Optimization
- Uncheck Enable Shape Optimization
So that it is why we get the banding, but still good a giving a quick atmosphere effect.
