Modified DS Genesis model to Carrara error
Started by lazz11 9 years ago

Hello, am new to all these programs and need to get my modified Daz Genesis model into Carrara. Have tried importing as a scene (An I/O error occured) and a .duf of my saved character preset (comes in with some bones and the waist band but nothing else - attached). Have attached a pic of the character. It includes a couple of objects transferred to fit as clothing. The Konrad model I started with works to an extent but comes in with poke through and weird hair issues - attached. I'm on a mac.

I only need to work with one character at this stage so if anyone can get my guy from Daz to Carrara, ready for lip sync with mimic pro (works with the Konrad model on a previous test) am happy to pay for that rather than spend days trying to work all this out.

Thanks for any help.

Leah

Did you build the model in Daz Studio ?  Why didin't you do it in Carrara to avoid issues if importing from Daz Studio?.

Which genesis did you use as a base figure ? Genesis 3 doesn't work well in Carrara.

I didn't know Carrara existed. Have just been trying to get a Mac friendly pipeline that allows me to use lip sync with intuitive animation for beginners but it's been a lot of false starts and difficult to know findout what works until you test it. Being on a mac I can't use mimic pro through Daz so I found out there was the Carrara option after building the model.

I used Genesis model Konrad as the base. It came in reasonably ok as the original model but not with modifications.

Ok bit of mashup eh ?

Do you intend to contimue using Carrara ? [ recommended ]

If so what version do you have and is it Pro version ?

Do you have mimic for Carrara ? [ on sale right now for huge 66% discount ]

Not sure of the extent of your mods to Konrad but maybe just start again with him in Carrara. Use the .cr2 files that came with your purchase. It some times happens that autofit doesn't always work well so if you have poke throughs you may have to tweak.

Being honest I dont know much about getting stuff from Daz Studio  into Carrara so there could be a solution to your problem but for me that would be to skip Studio altogether. I  (and many Carrara users) cant be bothered with Daz Studio though sometimes we have to resort to using it for a particular purpose but then as you have experienced there can be problems bringing back to Carrara

Oh - for clothing theres is was a new plugin which you can read about here   http://www.bond3d.byethost18.com/index.php?topic=266.0

I did a lot of modification but if it's possible to replicate in Carrara that might be the only option I have left since I can't seem to export any mimic data back into Daz. I have Pro 8.5. Any tutorials available on doing detailed character modifications (increasing eye size, altering nose shapes, jawlines etc) in Carrara?

As mentioned I only need this one character working so I don't need to know how to model in future and if it's a long learning process just to recreate the character I'll probably have to hire someone.

Thanks for taking the time to respond =)
