I am weaning myself from Daz 3 and have been slowly but surely making some progress in Carrara 8.5 in my productions.  I've switched my Saratoga production from Daz to Carrara since I got 8.5.  Since then I started creating the sets with lighting in them and began rendering scenes.  Some look good enough to run with and others that needed more work.  The trouble I had since was generally the lighting.  I had to see what I had to adjust constantly.  Once I thought I got the gist of lighting the scenes, the opposite of the light I had to work on was the shadows.  I'm still learning to adjust the softness of the shadows and most of them so far are doable.  I still will need to also work at importing the aniblocks & .bvh files I used in Daz over to Carrara so I can make great use of them all. I've also network render an armful of scenes with four computers.  Not saying I didn't have any problems (will need to take a look at SciFi Funk's video and Holly's article on the subject).
