I've used Carrara for years through many upgrades (since it was called Ray Dream Studio)
A while back I changed computers
Now when I open my Carrara 6 it requires the serial and product key (no problem - it is all legitimate)
Now, every time I open it it requires the serial/key each time
Why is this, and is there a way to stop this and just open as usual?

You using the Daz DIM ? although it would probably have been their earlier installer. If you point your Dim to the Carrara as you would Daz,Bryce,Poser and external editing program like PShop for the install path
Just sounds to me that the CMS and the software are not in conversation once it registers this issue should away. Carrara 8.5 would have done this automatically as you downloaded again it when changing computers
I haven't been able to find it, I remeber some people having that issue, but I just haven't been able to fine it. If this is on windows, try running the app with administrator privalages to enter the serial number, after that just normal. (right click on carrara icon and use run as administrator).

Definitely try to run Carrara 6 as Administrator and your issue should go away. Once you enter the serial number with Administrative privileges the program should have no trouble in the future. During C6 times I had very similar issue and that helped solve it.
