Fantasy Village Terrain
Started by evilproducer a while ago

It seems as if I've been working on this and posting renders of this for months! Anyway, it's finally here! The Fantasy Village Terrain is a complete environment scene for Carrara 7.2 or later.

Due to some confusion caused by my minimalist description, I want to stress that the buildings in my promotional renders are not included. Please see the Read-Me file under Proxy Houses for the link where they can be had for free!

The Read-me also contains other valuable information. It's really more of a manual, so please check it out!

The Village environment scene file is here:

The scene consists of the terrain with custom shader, two ocean primitives with custom shader, a dam group, cattails, Renaissance style tournament ground suitable for jousting, crumbled stone fenceing, custom RSE and volumetric cloud, three customized trees with custom shaders that use Carrara's own leaf shapes (no need to install leaves)!

Plus to help with bulding placement, I've included proxy buildings composed of simple primitives. Just drag whatever buildings you want from the Browser and drop them onto one of the building proxies to load your building in that spot. Some adjustment may be required.

I've also included a very detailed Read-Me file. More of a mini-manual actually. There's also a folder with light presets and one with objects that I made for the scene. Some don't load by default, but they're nice to have anyway!

Enjoy!

Eventually I'll stick the file on my ShareCG account, but for now I hope to drive a little traffic to Carrara Cafe!

Thanks Holly! I thought I was in the Freepository forum. What forum did I post it in? Should I update my link to this thread at the DAZ Carrara discussion forum?

I just checked, you posted the right link. It was in the Cafe Feedback forum...

When my workstation is free from rendering, I'll try to remember to put up some of the images I've shot of this, most remarkable, scene that I've shot during the beta phase. The buildings that replace the Proxy Blocks that come in the scene are available for free at ShareCG, and are impressive and perfect for the setting.

I currently have the village filled with people from Michael 2 to Loretta LoRez, a few Lorenzo's, I think three orfour Michael 4,

Not sure if you guys are aware of this, but LoRez Lorenzo, by Predatron at Daz3d, has morphs and texture sets to change him into an orc, dwarf, elf, zombies, I think children, many, many different people - and work great for situations where you'd like a fast and furios way to populate a scene with incredibly different people. If you don't want to have to adjust a whole bunch of parameters to make sure that this guy doesn't look just like that guy... just name this figure "Alfonzo" and crank the Alfonzo morph to "1". Do the same for Paul, Joe and Carlos. Predatron gives you a huge selection of morphs - including sets that are specifically designed to make the character creation process fast without fuss. Orc character can be applied to the whole model, or just the head - by two simple dials that are next to each other.     Sweet!

So I was noticing that my animation was going to take a long time. So I went in and very easily shut off everything that wasn't in the cameras view. evilproducer made groups of things in a ways that truly simplifies everything. I wanted to give the tree leaves some rustling effects. I was planning to have to make setting on many trees - found throughout various groupings. Although there are various groupings, you quickly realize that they are all instances of a Master plant. Set the animation on two master trees and you're done. The Willow and the Oak. You can go and sett motion on the Poplars in the back, if their in use in your scene, too.

I cannot get over how FREE this cool setting is. It just doesn't feel like a freebie. It feels more like I saved up fourty buck for it! Thanks EP, my friend! You R O K ! ! !
I can hardly wait to see what sorts of cool renders come into the community with this resource to use and to learn from.

Nice job Wendy! I posted a response on your youtube channel as well.

Any problems with it? Something that's not clear enough? Could you Aussies still read the manual, even though I used Americanized englishl? Wink

I’ve updated the scene file and the Read-me. actually, I changed the name of the Read-me file to manual.  Hopefully Carrara won’t have to ask where maps and such are located. I didn’t go through all the objects I’ve included with the scene, but since most of them utilize procedural shaders I’m not to worried. The drop box link is updated in the first post.
