So Holly, is CrazyTalk post-production tool?

Do I ever shut up?!?

I would call Crazytalk a 2.5D Production tool.... It's sort of a MIMIC for still photos. The advantage is I can render very high res stills out of Carrara 1280x1280 and use that full resolution in CT. It has a timeline for specific movements, blinks, expressions, and a speach to animation function.... You can see the results above. It sometimes has a rubbery morphing look to it, but the motions and expressions aren't too bad.... I need to get "under the hood" and create custom eyes and teeth and learn to control (puppet) the expressions for really good results... There are occassionaly images that just don't work (facing straight ahead works best)... My script will have a lot of dialog, some of it through viewer screens, but mostly I'm looking for ways to speed up production. CT renders out a PNG sequence with alpha, about 2000 frames at 12802, in ~10 minutes....

I'm hoping to be able to combine animations out of Carrara and CT seemlessly -- even if I just use CT to get a feel of the scene, what doesn't work I can go back to Carrara/Mimic, or to do some dramatic camera.... It's all more or less digital cel animation. The final video is composited in a VJ program called Modul8 which is like a "live" AfterEffects for video layering. I am able to output in realtime 1280x720p

The really exciting thing I'm anticipating from Crazytalk is around the end of this month they will be releasing an iPad/iPhone app that allows you to puppet a CrazyTalk prepped avatar. As I find my voice actors I can give them their faces to work with while they record...

I think my pacing will also be a bit slower than most "adventure" films... I'm going for something more like anime where atmosphere and pacing will be as important as action and dialog.

My shero of the opera...

These iFrames are not playing correctly on my mac... Grrr I hate the interwebs Frown

One more Crazy Talk test... This one a bit more subtle.

These backgrounds are mostly eroneous (just things I had ready to use as backgrounds). I intend to use a lot of color and abstraction for the backgrounds. I want the environment to reflect my visual art, not realism. I want it to be more like a comicbook or graphic art style.

Nothing real to see yet...Embarassed

I still have to redesign 2 characters because they look too DAZzy... And many backgrounds... ugh. I've been lazy.
Building a whole universe takes forever... LOL
