Genetica 4 is out
Started by Stan a while ago

Woot. http://www.spiralgraphics.biz/genetica/gen4announce/genetica_4_announce.htm

There has been a major rework of the interface. I haven't made up my mind about it, seems clumsy but that just may be unfamiliarity.

The big new thing for me is mesh textureing, as in import your model mesh, texture, and export a seemless texture based on the mesh UVmapping. It works quite nicely but is limited to a single mesh/shader zone.

I've checked this and it works quite nicly with most poser clothes. If you want me to run it through it's paces to show what it can do, just ask Smile

{#emotions_dlg.skywalker} I'm interested in seeing it!

I bought Gen 3.6, but I admit I do not use it as much as I wanted to.... I am PC-phobic. {#emotions_dlg.struggle}

That is definitely helpful. Something that works like GoZ (the utility to exchange live models in ZBrush with another app, including Carrara) would be good too so you don't have to do the import/export steps

I wish the OpenShader language would catch on because it would be awesome to have procedural shaders that work across many applications. I have written that as a feature request for anyone to add their name https://bugs.daz3d.com/view.php?id=50445

Yes shaders can get quite confusing especially when options that control different things hava a same name. An example is this Flight sim I'm trying to figure out how to mod, has shaders. In their shaders what they are calling the alpha map, in carrara would be the highlight .

I'm hoping to convince Atlas to see about getting Genetica to work with DDS; the most common game texture format, because textures seem to lose a bit of detail in converting back and forth.

One of the things I thought of quite a while back is games could benefite from bring able to use genetica texture builds. Not only would it save a lot of space over the textures, it could be set up to render out the texture at what ever resolution the player picks. No more downloading extra, or higher resolution textures you can't use. A dozen texture builds would take up less space then a single hirez texture.
