ADHD at work, or whats in my render room.
Started by Stan a while ago

Well for year I have suspected I had ADHD. Several people; not qualified to, have told me I had it. A couple weeks ago I was in see a psyc for my disability evaluation; I'm not disabled but with emphysima and arthritus I'm unemployable {a felony police record doesn't help}. The psyc confirmed I do have ADHD and he wants me on meds for it. Not till Obama says he'll pay for it; yes I filed for medicade too. I'll be 53 in june and I might as well be retired. Proof working like a horse means your body will have the life expetency of one. I started working at 16 and now I am just worm out.

What this means is I am broke with time to work on scenes. This also explanes why I have close to 100 unfinished scenes. Some I have spent months on; smugglers keep, and soem just hours.

I love WW1 scout planes. Built models for years. Here is  neiwil's Albatros from shereCG { http://www.sharecg.com/b/5/3D-Models/?PSID=f465a9279232fb5104e46319d75121fa&keywords=neiwil&member_type%5BAll%5D=on&attribute%5B2005%5D%5B-1%5D=1&attribute%5B2017%5D%5B-1%5D=1&attribute%5B2538%5D%5B-1%5D=1&tdm=a&s=dd} sorry for the long link, it's his complete listing at shareCG, he does a lot of WW1and WW2 planes.

Here I am working on a simple flight, it may develope in to more, and this is just a real quick wip. With the clouds this is a long animation to render. I'm up to the next part which is giving the planes movement.

As you are airplane  buff i've posted a couple of renders in my gallery
Thanks for the shareCG link. Ive had some good models from Ontarget         https://www.ontarget3d.com/site/

Basically it means I have the attention span of a house cat, and problems finishing things. It's why I have issues with tutorials with a lot of steps. {and why my spelling is so bad}

I'm not up for the drugs though. When I was a young teen I was diagnosed with manic desresion; bypolar. That was 40 years ago and the drugs they put me on turned me in to a zombie for 3 years; till I quit taking them. I went from 180lbs to 250lbs over that time. At 53 it is not an issue, I'm not bypolar, just a bit moody I've learned to recognise my mood swings and what to do about them; actually youtube and the search term "oops" does a lot to stop the depression, or lessen how long or severe I am depressed. When I come up I try to focus that energy in to something constructive.Once I was through the teen years it was not near as severe.

The next scene in "the flight" is a close up of the lead pilot spotting the enimy below. I'm trying to do a soft cloth scarf blowing using directinal force. But the scarf keeps getting stuck in the planes fusilage, and I'm not quite sure how to fix it.

I've probably built over 200 WW1 scout plane models. I actually got in to CG because of them. One of the first things I found online was a remote control plane sim. It was desined for the person to fly the sim with their actual remote control plane control. It was quite a nice sim, but most of the WW1 planes were very wrong in many ways, so I got in to moding, modeling, uvmapping, and texturing to have more acurate WW1 scout planes to fly. I had modeled an Airco DH2 and a Newport 11 bebe, and was working on 2 prewar planes the Morane-Saulnier N, and Fokker EIII. Lost it all to my first virus. {#emotions_dlg.excruciating}

{if phonics worked that would all be spelled right lol }

Next time, when you'll get 'all lost due to virus', just relax, go get a live cd/dvd with linux - I like Knoppix live dvd - go to your corrupted folder and back it up. This way, you can safely recover almost all your work. Here you can find a Knoppix .iso file to burn on cd/dvd : http://knopper.net/index-en.htmlIf you still have that hard disk drive untouched, you may still recover those files needed, as mentioned afore. Whether you have a valid windows license, you may freely use the best ever, free antivirus : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download

Hmm. Do to an over sight I need to start this one again. 3rd time.

Note: make sure Poser planes are Poser scale before duplicating. Luckely I've got parts of this down to where I can set them up fast and the clouds are fine so I simply have to replace the planes with the right scale ones; so I can do the close up scene of M3.

Why does scale always seem to be arbitrary? Has in all the time i have been doing this.

I had started "the flight" with a single albatross and M3. So at that time the scene was to scale. I deleted M3 because I didn't need 6 of him in the scene. Duplicated the prop plane, and used the included jasta skins. Saved as .car. I had the scene in and out of carrara a dozen or so time working on clouids, motions, shaders ect. Then decided to put M3 back in to the lead plane for a close up. Looked like he was setting on a remote controled plane. Don't know when the scale chenged.

Right now though I am addressing another issue I saw when working on the close up. The textures for the planes are a bit rough for a close up, so I am cutting it apart so I can runt he various pieces through the Genetica beta. New to Genetica 4 is direct object mapping. Fun stuff Smile

Right now I have it in Hex to cut apart by it's shader zones, then I can run the individual objects through G4 to texture. I'm going to try not to have to reuvmap so the textures I make can be used on the origenal model; we'll see how that goes. But I am going to try to show off genetica a bit and not import any textures to apply, try to make them all procedual so I can reuse the texture build on other planes.

I've got a dozen or so hours in on this texture build. I'ts about as accurate as I am going to get with a texture. Now that I have a good bump map I can use it with the included skins, but I could also retexture using the Genetica texture build.  Now, back to the animation that started this lol

Welcome a board Stan, I discovered that I am ADHD at 41, but only at 43 I really decidec to use Ritalin (I think this is the name in english), and you are luck that USA consider this as a real problem and help people to have the right medicine for free.

Here I have to pay for it and expende about $60 bucks a month, plus consultations with psychologist and psychiatrist, that take about $200 or more. The problem is to get to work and finish things... But we can fight againt this problem, just take sometime to understand how to organize your life, I use a tablet to remeber me everything (dates, medicine, kid schooll, feed dogs and almost everything in my life).

The real problem with ADHD is that after many years we have a low self esteem, and this is the real fight in our life and the why we have a lot of work not done, we really dont beleieve that is good enough to show off, but believe, yes it is!!

Pleas elet me know if you need help and now try to open old scenes and finish them, one by one. Create a schedule for every thing you didnt finished and do it now. Take your medicine (nothing can give the focus that you need now, only it).

Good luck!

It's hard to finish scenes... {#emotions_dlg.excruciating} with or without ADHD....

Don't be blue Stan, be crankypants! That's what I love! LOL

I'm almost twice the age of everyone I work with... I hate it. I am always sucking in my gut and hiding my teeth. {#emotions_dlg.skull}{#emotions_dlg.struggle}

I'd be happy to get on medicaid, at least then I could get the testing done the Doc wanted done a year and a half ago.

And I'm not sure about ritalin. I don't know what they had me on as a teen for bipolar, but I really would rather not go there again.

I've found somehting that works quite nice for me. Slows my mind down so I can concentrate and get things done.

This started with me checking DMI cars for new models yesterday. Sice then I have sliced the body off the car to take in to Genetica 4 to skin it. Dropped the origenal model in to carrara; had to make the body shader invisable because I had to reuvmap the shell to texture it in Genetica. And then imported and aligned the shell. Dropped it in to my car stage, scaled it way up, dropped in M4, and have been busy with it most of the morning; when I wasn't being the good son.

This render is pretty well default except for the antiA. I'll take mike and the car out to get he rest of the lighting set up; wips start geting real long to render with everything in scene lol A few more runs through genetica to get the stripes on all body surfaces lol and maybe change the Logo. That isn't an ACR logo. they recently changed their stylish racing game logo to a company letter head Cry   Called it rebranding or something, looked abismal to me.

And a picture to show off why I love the new texturing on the model in Genetica 4, yes a preview on the model so all adjustments can be made in app.  {#emotions_dlg.star}

Ok Holly, I'll give you a good laugh. Nothing in your mouth right?

I got banned from the MS flight sim chat by none other the the CEO/publisher

What can I say. Microsoft released thier flight sim {10.5} Free, then abandonded all development of it. But they still charge you to play. Tell me I didn't have plenty of ammo lol It's free to fly, not free to advance. Cool

Also testing the system, you'll see lol 1-1
